What can I wrap?
Car, buses, trucks, trailers, boats, white goods for example fridge/ freezers, bikes, Jet Ski's

How long does it take?
This will depend on the sized vehicle you’re wrapping and how experienced you are. This would also depend on whether you are wrapping the entire vehicle or if you’re doing a partial wrap. We would always recommend that you take your car to an experienced graphics installer to wrap your car.

How much media does it take to wrap a car?
It would take approximately 18m, depending on the size of the car

What is a partial wrap?
A partial wrap would include graphics down the side of the car or on the bonnet.

Can I use a polymeric media?
Yes, you can with the new technology that is coming through in the signage area. We always recommend that you use the correct car wrapping media when wrapping a car but the newest technology means that the new Metamark MD-X is a polymeric, not a cast.

How difficult is it to remove the media from the vehicle?
The film can be removed either by heating and stretching the material off, or using a removal product such as Crystal Tek Vinyl remover.

How long does it take to remove the media from a vehicle?
This will depend on how long the media has been on the car for can take between 1 and 5 hours.

On average a full wrap can take up to 4 hours, we recommend using wrapping films that have long term removability.

How hard is it to install into deep recesses?
We would only recommend experienced installers to undertake a wrap that includes deep recesses as this is a very difficult application.

What temperature do I have to post heat at?
The following films need to be post heated:

  • Avery wrapping films 90°C
  • Arlon wrapping films - minimum of 100°C
  • Metamark wrapping films - minimum of 100°C

Do I have to notify VicRoads (Victoria Only) if I wrap my car?
No you don’t have to because a car wrap is temporary and can be removed at any time. This may vary state to state.

What can I use to clean before application?
Ensure that the vehicle has had a general car wash. We would recommend that you use Avery surface cleaner or autoglum to clean your car before applying any vinyl to get rid of any dirt, dust, grim or grease that might be there.

What is knifeless tape?
Knifeless tape is a technology developed in Canada. It is a tool that has drastically taken the fear of cutting into vehicles whether it is an everyday family car to an exotic pride and joy. The knifeless tape system consists of a nylon thread held together with adhesive on a green translucent tape, similar size to a 6mm pinstripe tape. The idea of this tape is to simply cut the vinyl from underneath using tension whilst following the thread back on itself. The tape will stick to the surface of the substrate though when applying vinyl over the top of the knifeless tape won’t adhere to the vinyl making it easier to remove graphics or repositioning film.

Being such an innovative design, they have been able to create a number of different tapes to accommodate other obstacles in vehicle wrapping. They have brought models such as Design Line – being a product that brings flexibility and creativity this film makes it easier to bend and curve, Finish Line – this product is ideal for sleek and straight cuts avoiding tedious and time-consuming work for perfection, Perf Line – Knifeless tape has brought a tape that can give the capability of being able to correctly shape and cut window/perforated film avoiding contact with the rubber seals we all fear of slicing, and finally Bridge Line – Knifeless tape have even thought of creating a tape that will simply slice down the gaps connecting the panels to the doors.

How do I get rid of trapped air bubbles?
A lot of the media that is available now is air release and therefore getting rid of trapped air bubbles should be a breeze. The air release channels are designed so that the bubbles will run along the channels and escape. If the media that you are using is not air release than an air release tool is your answer.

Why can’t they take their car out after installation (if it’s a sunny and warm day)?
You would want the job to be set by manually doing it yourself with a heat gun, right? If it’s taken outside, the sun is actually that warm that it can manipulate your film into resetting or bubbling. In all honesty, it can be fixed but who wants the hassle of going back and forth trying restoring the job. We recommend that if people get a vehicle wrap large or small, they should really get there car undercover so no sunlight is exposed for 24 hours and wouldn’t need to worry about getting the job repaired or looking awful.
